(d) Oxides of Sulphur and Nitrogen — When the amount of sulfur dioxide and oxide of Nitrogen present in the polluted air in the atmosphere gets mixed with carbon dioxide in rain water, then it reacts with rain water and gets converted into sulfuric acid and nitric acid and this when water falls on the earth, it is called acid rain, due to this, plants and trees including aquatic animals are harmed.
