Because of these victories he is called the Napoleon of India. Samudragupta was not only a conquerer but also a poet, musician and patron of learning. On his coins, he has been depicted playing Veena has been given the title of Kaviraj. Samudragupta's title Dharma Pracharak Bandhu is mentioned in the Pillar inscription of Allahabad.
